CANCELLATIONS have made this expo particularly difficult to work around, and there is quite a "Domino Effect" that is negative for our business overall.

    ARRIVING / DELIVERY TRUCK

    ARRIVING / DELIVERY TRUCK

We MEET & GREET every exhibitor at the gates of the expo.

Please do not drive in looking around for your site.

Just wait at the entry point marked on your Bump In pack.

You will be met - and walked to your site

We often have truck drivers arriving not knowing WHO they are towing! Remember to give them your business name and tell them also to Wait at the Gate.

    EGRESS - YOUR VEHICLES

    ARRIVING / DELIVERY TRUCK

During set up it is a problem if every exhibitor has 1 - 5 Utes, Trucks and cars all gathered around their stand - for hours!

Drive in - Unpack  - and pop your car away... not on the site next to you - and not in the laneway - put it over near the fenceline - or in the car park.

    STRICTLY!

FRIDAY MORNING:  ALL VEHICLES OUT AND IN THE CAR PARK BY 9am!!

    SATURDAY/SUNDAY MORNING: by 8:30am

    LANYARDS

Lanyards are for STAFF - for those going in and out of the expo during bump in - and during opening hours.

YOU ARE HANDED THESE AT THE BUMP IN GATE.

You do not need lanyards for children.

You should not be requesting lanyards for 5 friends, you mum-in-law, her 3 mates and the dog!

For them, we have $10 PROMO tickets!

    LINK FOR PROMO TOCKETS

$10 Promo ticket links are sent to you by email when you request - preferably not on the day of bump in/ morning we open!  Organisers are on the field and not at computers!

Please do not mass email the link to your mailing list.

Please do not use the link to advertise on socials etc.

The link is for colleagues, friends, good clients etc -

If you have met a great customer on Friday - and they need to think about it - but are Hot To Trot... Invite them back to see you again.

Tell them to come back on Sunday and you may negotiate your display model.

Simply meet them at the gate and bring them in on your Lanyard.

    Collect information and ASK QUESTIONS

    1) Are you ready to buy and have land to put it?

    2) Are you at 'design stage' and making detailed decisions?

    3) Are you keen, but not ready with no land to park it yet?

    4) Are you keen but need to raise finances?

    5) What questions do you have that stops you from placing an order?

    6) What is a Deal-breaker on buying a tiny house in the next 4 weeks?

There are solutions to Land and Finances and Insurance and Council Questions at the Expo. Speak to those who are around the Speaker hall.

Send your customers to us - we deal with hundreds of people buying and can help their situation and circumstances.

We are Here to Champion the Industry and can help!

It is the habit of an attendee to any expo to collect leaflets at every single site if they can.  An A5, black and white print out, photocopied, with basic nut-bolt information is enough for them.

If a visitor is seriously considering you for their home, they will come and speak to you. You can find out more about what they are looking for and offer to email through things that pertain to their EXACT needs.  Get their details.  And those people may take one of your expensive, 4 page, gloss colour leaflets!

A brochure/leaflet left out for everyone, circumvents the need to give you their details!

We see no reason to print more than 3000 small photocopies and just 500 actual leaflets (full colour ones).  Most people will ask you for a business card, and if you run out - point them to your advertisement in the magazine they collect at the gate.

Being an Outdoor event, the rain can have adverse effects - but the visitors will still come.

In Melbourne 2022 a tornado and torrential rain causing us to cancel a Friday - still saw Saturday and Sunday bringing people in and the event was affected... but not killed!

It's just water!  People bring boots and Umbrellas.

What makes an event unpleasant is the complaints and whining exhibitors!

The visitors are still happy.  Speaking endlessly to the organisers about what the weather is or isn't doing, isn't helping!

We will plan for wet weather and just realise that when this happens, the pressure is all on the site manager to bring everything together and make it safe for visitors - so have some patience... we get through it.

    BIG TRUCK / LITTLE TRUCK

Think about Egress.  If you have a 6m house, coming on a SUPER TILT - placing the house in position is almost impossible!

If you have a Super Size truck coming to deliver - book them in for WEDNESDAY MORNING, not Thursday afternoon when you need to get it around the donut seller and the thermomix stall!

    We can't operate like that

Positions change when exhibitors turn up with More / less than they stated, and some just pull out within a week of the expo!

In order to create the site map, we have to be flexible and fluid - accommodating many factors - and for this reason, your exact position in the expo can suddenly change.

NEVER - at any expo, has there been a 'dud spot' - or will attendees 'not bother looking in that corner'.  They pay to come in and see every single display.

Exhibitors put far too much emphasis on position on the field - and are giving Lance a break-down as a result!

Lance really does understand the layout and what works... try to work with him!

(For the same reasons stated above, we have no site numbers, and no maps to give attendees!)

It is THE REASON we have no final maps to publish or send out... it changes right up to the day we bump in - because exhibitors are IN then OUT - oblivious to the domino effect it has on the organisation of an event.

Ummm... what do we do with a huge 10 - 20m GAP in the middle of our show?

We SEE builders aggressively advertising their houses for sale weeks before an event, and then saying they have no display to bring!

Other events do not allow cancellations and full site fees and penalty fees are charged.

Pulling out of expo's is a sure-fire way to just being asked not to book/attend future ones.

Just a visit to Officeworks - a laminated sign - can relieve some stressful bumps and unnecessary accidents.

(keep in mind children use beds for trampolines and can get in all sorts of places you would not imagine were a hazard!)

    • Can a child turn on the Oven/cooker tops?
    • Gas Cylinders - EMPTY please?
    • Deck over 800mm - needs a rail
    • Stairs over 800mm - needs a hand rail
    • Are your electrical points safe and signed off by a certified electrician.
    • Are your electrical cords tagged?

INSURANCE:  Call your business insurer - state you are doing an expo - give dates - and it should be simple to ADD to your policy (there is not normally a charge for this).

Otherwise look at Public liability Cover in advance.

If an accident is IN your house or because of your neglect - it is YOUR insurance that will be addressed - the Event insurance is addressed for things that involve the set up of the Event - not your individual display. (see: Wind TIP on this page in particular)

Weather forecasts, school holidays, competing local events and even traffic conditions can significantly influence visitor numbers.

Interestingly, a forecast of rain often has more impact than the rain itself, with visitors simply choosing a different day to attend.

Our focus has never been on creating the biggest crowds.

Instead, we invest heavily in attracting people who are genuinely researching tiny homes, alternative housing and off-grid living.  - Keep in mind we could put on entertainment, bouncy castles and face-painters and get thousands of people in - for fun!

We would much rather deliver qualified conversations than inflated attendance figures. Many exhibitors tell us that one serious buyer is worth more than twenty casual visitors.

Our LOWEST ever visited expo (Canberra) resulted in the highest business figures with exhibitors ever!

We are occasionally asked why we don't finish earlier on Sunday.

Over many years we've found that changing the advertised closing time doesn't create a busier finish—it simply moves the quiet period earlier. If we close at 4:00 pm, visitors naturally begin leaving around 3:00 pm. If we closed at 3:00 pm, the same thing would happen around

Over many years we've found that changing the advertised closing time doesn't create a busier finish—it simply moves the quiet period earlier. If we close at 4:00 pm, visitors naturally begin leaving around 3:00 pm. If we closed at 3:00 pm, the same thing would happen around 2:00 pm.

Like most exhibitions, the final hours naturally tapers off.

We encourage exhibitors to remain open until the advertised closing time, as many visitors deliberately wait until later in the day to enjoy quieter conversations, and the last hour can produce surprisingly valuable enquiries while competitors have already started switching off.

Packing up a little is fine - MOVING A VEHICLE before 5pm is absolutely prohibited!

Bringing display homes into a venue is one of the most complex parts of running an Expo.

Our Site Manager carefully plans bump-in to protect both your homes and the venue.

Occasionally, weather, council requirements or existing vegetation can present challenges that simply aren't apparent during earlier site inspections.

If you notice anything during bump-in that could affect safe access, please let our Site Manager know immediately.

We'd much rather pause for five minutes to trim a branch, adjust a route or rethink an approach than risk damage to your home. Every exhibitor's display represents a significant investment, and getting you in safely is always our priority.

Your driver is ultimately the best judge of whether there is sufficient clearance for your vehicle and load. If something doesn't look right, stop immediately and speak with our Site Manager. We are always happy to reassess the route rather than risk unnecessary damage.
